Al-Mahrah: The sit-in committee in Qishn District, Al-Mahrah Province, convened a meeting under the leadership of Saeed Afri, head of the Political Department of the province's sit-in committee, to deliberate on the repercussions of declining public services and economic conditions affecting citizens' living standards.
According to Yemen News Agency, committee member Salem Al-Zuwaidi, from the Peaceful Sit-in Committee of Al-Mahrah's Sons, alongside Qishn District's sit-in committee head Issa Al-Jadhi and his deputy Omar Al-Jadhi, participated in discussing key challenges confronting the community. These challenges include frequent power outages, diminishing essential services, and the continuous depreciation of the national currency, which has intensified humanitarian distress.
The participants underscored that the silence from official authorities in the province regarding these issues is unacceptable. They called on local authorities and the government to assume responsibility and implement immediate measures to ease citizens' difficulties.
The need for unified community efforts and solidarity was emphasized, urging all concerned parties to take decisive action. The committee warned that ongoing deterioration without solutions might lead to widespread public unrest.
The committee condemned external interference, particularly the militarization of the district and efforts to create division within Al-Mahrah's community, holding the Saudi-Emirati coalition accountable for causing successive crises impacting the province across various sectors.
The meeting concluded with several recommendations, submitted to the leadership of the Peaceful Sit-in Committee in the province, as part of an action plan to address all threats to the stability and security of Qishn district and Al-Mahrah at large.
