Reclamation of 1,207 Agricultural Land Units in Bajil District, Al-Hodeidah

Bajil: The agricultural areas that have been reclaimed and leveled in Bajil District, Al-Hodeidah Governorate, have reached 1,207 agricultural "Ma'ad" (local land measurement units), as part of the agricultural land reclamation project aimed at developing the agricultural sector and enhancing production.

According to Yemen News Agency, the project is being implemented by the Bajil District Multi-Purpose Agricultural Cooperative Society, in cooperation with the Central Agricultural Region of the Tihama Development Authority and in coordination with the local authority. Reclamation works and the preparation of agricultural lands for use in the coming seasons are ongoing.

The District Director, Abdulmun'im Al-Rifai, explained that the project embodies the directions aimed at developing the agricultural sector, investing in hard lands, and preparing them for production, contributing to expanding agricultural land, enhancing food security, and achieving self-sufficiency.

He praised the community interaction and participation of the district's residents, and the efforts between the Society, the Tihama Development Authority, and the local authority, which have yielded successes on the ground.

Al-Rifai considered the continuation of this project as a step to enhance and develop agricultural production in Bajil, transforming hard lands into productive fields that contribute to supplying local markets with essential crops.

For his part, the Head of the Bajil District Society, Adel Sam, stated that the reclamation works were carried out over 663 operating hours using the agricultural machinery allocated to the project, contributing to the completion of leveling and reclamation works at a high pace.

He noted that the project meets the needs of farmers and works on preparing lands for cultivation, enhancing crop production and supporting efforts to achieve self-sufficiency. He called on the district's farmers to join the Society to benefit from the services and projects it implements.

He explained that the Society provides services to farmers, including land reclamation, provision of agricultural inputs, and technical guidance, within the framework of enhancing cooperative work and expanding the scope of agricultural initiatives in the governorate.

The Head of the Society mentioned that work is ongoing to reclaim more agricultural lands in various areas of the district, according to the project's approved plan, contributing to expanding agricultural land, raising production levels, and enhancing food security.

He pointed out that the project enjoys community interaction and reflects the partnership between the Society, the Tihama Development Authority, and the local authority in supporting agricultural development.

In turn, a number of farmers in Bajil praised the continuation of the project's works, considering land reclamation and the provision of agricultural machinery as a step to prepare their lands for the new agricultural season, enhance agricultural production, and serve the national economy.

This project embodies the state's directions towards developing the agricultural sector, strengthening the role of cooperative societies and community initiatives in land reclamation and expanding agricultural land, contributing to raising agricultural production, achieving food security, and supporting the path towards self-sufficiency.
