Sana'a: The draw for the 2024-2025 Republic Basketball Cup, held today in Sana'a, set up several strong clashes among participating clubs in the regional qualifiers across provinces.
According to Yemen News Agency, sixteen teams from various parts of the country were divided into four groups in the first stage of the tournament, organized by the Yemen Basketball Federation and played over two phases. The first stage will be hosted in four cities-Sana'a, Aden, Mukalla, and Seiyun-grouping teams geographically. Matches will run from 1-7 September, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the second and final stage.
The draw was conducted in the presence of Federation Secretary-General Jamal Ibrahim, Assistant Secretary-General Nabil Al-Soufi, Financial Officer Abdulkarim Rashid, Competitions Committee Head Hamoud Taher, and 3x3 Committee Head Ashraf Sharafuddin. The federation explained that the Republic Cup qualifiers were rescheduled earlier to align with the advancement of the 37th Arab Club Championship, in which Yemen will be represented by Shabab Hadramout and Al-Mina'a clubs.
In the Sana'a Group, comprising Sana'a and Ibb, teams such as Ahli Sana'a, Wahda Sana'a, Shaab Ibb, and 22 May will compete in a knockout format, promising intense competition among these clubs.
