Muscat: The general consumer price index in the Sultanate of Oman recorded an increase of 0.8 percent in July 2025 compared to the same month in 2024, based on the 2018 reference year.
According to Yemen News Agency, as reported by the Yemen News Agency, the 'miscellaneous goods and services' category topped the list of groups with the highest increase at 6.5 percent, followed by the transport group at 4 percent, and the restaurants and hotels group at 2.5 percent.
The health group recorded a rise of 0.8 percent, clothing and footwear prices increased by 0.4 percent, and education costs rose by 0.1 percent. In contrast, food and non-alcoholic beverages prices declined by 1.4 percent, culture and recreation by 0.2 percent, and furniture, household equipment, and maintenance by 0.1 percent.
Meanwhile, the prices of housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels, along with communications and tobacco, remained stable without any notable change. The average inflation rate for miscellaneous goods and services in Oman during the period from January to July 2025 stood at 6.2 percent.
As for food and non-alcoholic beverages in July 2025 compared to the same month in 2024, the data showed an increase in several sub-groups. The 'food products not classified elsewhere' category recorded the highest rise at 3.9 percent, followed by sugar, jam, honey, and sweets at 3.3 percent, then oils and fats at 1.9 percent. Milk, cheese, and eggs increased by 1.7 percent, meat by 0.5 percent, and bread and cereals by 0.4 percent, while non-alcoholic beverages saw a slight rise of 0.1 percent.
On the other hand, vegetable prices dropped by 14.3 percent, followed by fish at 1.7 percent, and fruits at 1.4 percent. At the governorate level, the data showed that Al-Dakhiliyah recorded the highest inflation rate by the end of July 2025 compared to the same period of the previous year, at 1.4 percent, followed by Al-Dhahirah at 1.3 percent, and Musandam at 1 percent. Inflation in both South Al-Sharqiyah and Muscat stood at 0.8 percent, followed by Al-Buraimi at 0.7 percent, and each of Al-Wusta, North Al-Batinah, and South Al-Batinah at 0.4 percent. Dhofar recorded an inflation rate of 0.2 percent, while prices in North Al-Sharqiyah remained unchanged.
