Sa’ada LC Chief Kicks Off Market Monitoring Campaign Ahead of Ramadan

Sa’ada: The Secretary-General of the Local Council in Sa’ada Governorate, Mohammed Al-Imad, and the Deputy Governor Mohammed Al-Badani, have launched a field campaign aimed at monitoring markets and the food supply situation as the holy month of Ramadan approaches.

According to Yemen News Agency, the launch took place at the governorate center and was attended by the Deputy Director of the Economy, Industry and Investment Office, Marsh Al-Sharaabi. Al-Imad explained that the campaign’s primary objective is to ensure price compliance and protect consumers across all markets.

Al-Imad emphasized that the campaign is part of the local authority and Industry Office’s plans to enhance the supervisory role in markets and monitor the food and price situation of basic and consumer goods, which see increased demand during Ramadan. He also stressed the importance of implementing the campaign rigorously and taking necessary measures against those who violate regulations and tamper with citizens’ food supplies.

Al-Imad commended the efforts of the field control teams in executing the campaign and acknowledged the role of citizens in supporting the office’s efforts by reporting violators. The Director of the Economy and Industry Office highlighted the commitment to intensify campaigns to oversee prices and the food supply situation during Ramadan, as well as to monitor commercial activities in all markets.

The plans include control and inspection campaigns targeting markets, bakeries, and consumer complexes to ensure the availability of all goods and to curb monopolistic practices, commercial fraud, and price manipulation. Al-Sharaabi noted that the campaign will continue until the end of Ramadan, following directives from the ministry’s leadership aimed at consumer protection and market supervision.

He added that the office remains committed to taking necessary legal actions against any violators.
