Salary Payments for May 2026 Begin for Public Service Units

General

Sana'a: The Ministries of Finance and Civil Service and Administrative Development announced the commencement of salary payments for May 2026 for public service units, in accordance with the State Employees' Salary Payment Program stemming from the Exceptional Mechanism Law for Supporting the Provision of State Employee Salaries and Settling Small Deposits.

According to Yemen News Agency, the two ministries explained in a joint statement that the payments were issued through the Ministry of Finance to the Central Bank of Yemen. From there, the funds were directed to the General Postal Authority and the Cooperative Agricultural Credit Bank (CAC Bank), based on payrolls issued by the Ministry of Civil Service. The statement further clarified that the exceptional mechanism for providing employee salaries and repaying small depositors represents temporary, exceptional solutions.

The ministries emphasized that this mechanism does not absolve the countries participating in the aggression against Yemen from their responsibility to pay salaries and compensation to all public service employees affected by the conflict. The statement pointed out that these countries control the oil and gas revenues that previously covered the payroll.

Additionally, the ministries extended their sincerest congratulations and blessings to the Yemeni people on the occasion of the Prophet's birthday (peace and blessings be upon him).
