Sana'a: The educational sector in Sana'a governorate on Wednesday held a protest condemning the crime committed by the Saudi enemy in targeting Al-Hazm Correctional Facility in Al-Jawf Governorate, which resulted in the martyrdom and injury of 39 inmates.
According to Yemen News Agency, participants chanted slogans expressing disavowal of the enemies and denouncing in the strongest terms the international community's deafening silence over the systematic crimes committed by the Saudi enemy against civilian facilities. They stressed the importance of a decisive response to the aggression and siege.
A statement issued during the protest and read by Deputy Head of the Governorate's Education Sector Sultan Al-Hakimi condemned the heinous crime committed by Saudi aggression aircraft against inmates at Al-Jawf Correctional Facility, describing it as part of blatant and successive violations of human rights and international humanitarian law.
The statement explained that targeting a correctional facility housing inmates, who in no way constitute a legitimate military target, clearly exposes the criminal nature of the Saudi enemy and its disregard for the lives of Yemenis. It further demonstrates that the machinery of killing and destruction has not refrained from targeting even places that are supposed to enjoy the highest levels of humanitarian protection under international humanitarian law.
The statement held the Saudi enemy responsible for the crime, which comes amid a dangerous escalation that brings to mind its record of crimes and violations against the Yemeni people over the past 12 years. These violations have targeted homes, schools, hospitals, markets, public event halls, civilian facilities, and various necessities of life, reflecting continued criminality and disregard for Yemeni blood.
The statement also commended the strategic military operations and precision strikes carried out by the armed forces deep inside Saudi territory, affirming that such operations fall within Yemen's legitimate right to defend itself and respond swiftly to any escalation.
Meanwhile, public and private schools across the governorate held protest rallies condemning the Saudi targeting of Al-Hazm Correctional Facility. Students and educational staff carried banners denouncing the international community's failure and deafening silence over the systematic targeting of civilian facilities.
