Sana'a: A meeting in the capital Sana'a on Sunday brought together Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates and Electricity, Energy, and Water to discuss coordination on international support for electricity, water, and sanitation projects amid challenges in funding and implementation.
According to Yemen News Agency, the session focused on overcoming obstacles faced by ongoing and new projects, particularly due to the reluctance of international organizations to provide necessary support and funding.
The participants, alongside the National Coordinator of the Water and Environmental Sanitation Cluster, Engineer Tawfiq al-Haroush, reviewed alternative solutions, including a new mechanism that leverages community initiatives to implement electricity, water, and sanitation projects efficiently.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulwahid Abu Ras emphasized the ministry's commitment to strengthening coordination with the Electricity, Energy, and Water Ministry to ensure successful completion of projects funded by international donors, aiming to alleviate citizens' suffering amid ongoing Israeli aggression supported by the United States. He stressed the importance of active communication with international organizations to direct funding toward the water, sanitation, and electricity sectors, thereby improving services across affected areas.
Deputy Minister of Electricity, Energy, and Water, Adel Bader, expressed hope that enhanced coordination and communication would secure the necessary support to rehabilitate power plants damaged in the aggression, particularly in Sana'a and several other governorates, which has intensified hardships for citizens. Bader confirmed the ministry's commitment to mobilizing all efforts to prioritize urgent needs and secure funding to improve electricity, water, and sanitation services nationwide.
