Sana'a: Sana'a University Medical College held on Thursday a 'Scientific Day for Pancreatic Cancer Awareness,' in coordination with the Yemeni Council for Medical Specializations' General Surgery Program, the Tumor Surgery Unit at Al-Thawra Hospital, and the National Cancer Control Center.
According to Yemen News Agency, about 700 participants attended, including professors, consultants, specialists, and postgraduate, internship, and fellowship students. The event featured ten specialized lectures covering the latest advancements in the diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of pancreatic cancer. Topics included early detection, endoscopy, tumor resectability, surgical oncology, radiotherapy, systemic therapy, pain management, post-surgical complications, and pancreatic pathology.
Sana'a University Rector, Dr. Mohammed al-Bukhaiti, highlighted the importance of such events in promoting a culture of science, diligence, and innovation. He emphasized the university's commitment to organizing scientific conferences throughout the year.
Dean of the Medical and Health Sciences College, Dr. Mohammed Al-Shahari, stressed the role of continuous medical education. He spoke on translating academic discussions into practical applications to improve healthcare, adopting a multidisciplinary approach to oncology, enhancing local research on treatment outcomes, and raising awareness of the importance of early detection.
