Sanaa: Scientific lectures held during the fourth season of the National Yemeni Honey Festival in the capital emphasized the importance of expanding the activities of cooperative associations and beekeepers.
According to Yemen News Agency, the lectures highlighted the need to train beekeepers and raise their awareness of modern practices and techniques to improve the productivity and quality of Yemeni honey and protect it from adulteration.
Experts and academics stressed increasing honey production through attention to the value chain, using modern tools and good agricultural practices. They also noted the unique medicinal properties of Yemeni honey, attributed to the local bee species, which, despite their small size, produce high-quality honey with significant nutritional and therapeutic value.
Dr. Mohammed Al-Sharhi, supervising the festival’s scientific sessions, explained that these lectures aim to raise awareness among stakeholders, traders, and cooperative associations to develop the honey sector and preserve the reputation of Yemeni honey. He noted that the festival provides an important opportunity to promote production, marketing, and the national economy, encouraging associations, private sector actors, and producers to brand their honey products and compete based on quality and uses in nutrition and medicine.
