Taiz: The exceptional efforts made by the local authorities in Taiz governorate culminated in service and development successes and qualitative transformations during the year 1446 AH.
According to Yemen News Agency, the local authorities in the governorate were keen to implement the directives of Leader of the Revolution Sayyed Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, the Supreme Political Council, and the Program of the Government of Change and Construction. These directives aimed at alleviating the suffering of citizens and meeting their needs through service and development projects.
These projects were executed last year at a cost of more than five billion riyals, covering various sectors. A report issued by the local authorities in Taiz highlighted that these projects included 200 service projects within community initiatives, costing over one billion riyals.
The report emphasized that the new Taiz governorate continued to benefit from development and service projects across different fields. This progress was made possible through collaborative efforts of the governorate's leadership, executive offices, and community organizations, all working towards enhancing service provision to the residents.
In the higher education sector, a notable project was the construction of the College of Medical Sciences building in the al-Hawban area, costing 407 million riyals. This strategic academic initiative aims to enhance university education in various scientific disciplines. In the health sector, the completion of the Taiz General Hospital project in al-Janad marked a significant advancement, costing 600 million riyals and poised to improve medical services across specialties.
The water and sanitation sector witnessed substantial improvements, including solar energy system installations to operate wells, connecting IDP camps to the public network, and extending sewage and water lines. These initiatives were complemented by road projects that paved new roads and rehabilitated existing ones, significantly boosting infrastructure development.
In terms of rural development and agricultural growth, the governorate focused on enhancing services and social stability. Projects included supplying modern agricultural equipment, rehabilitating irrigation systems, and establishing seed banks, all aimed at achieving food security and empowering local communities.
Community initiatives remained a focal point, with over 200 service projects implemented to foster local development and break social isolation. Acting governor Ahmed al-Masawa expressed optimism for continued progress in 1447 AH, emphasizing support from key political figures and the ongoing commitment to comprehensive development.
