Shura Council Blames Saudi Forces for Al-Hazm Market Attack and Militarization of Airports

Sana'a:The Shura Council has strongly condemned the Saudi forces for an attack on the Al-Hazm market in Al-Jawf Governorate, which resulted in the death of 14 citizens and wounded 16 others, including three women, during peak shopping hours.

According to Yemen News Agency, the Council declared the attack a war crime and a blatant violation of international laws that protect civilians and civilian infrastructure. The statement criticized the Saudi forces for continuing to target Yemeni civilians and held them accountable for converting Aden Airport and other airports in occupied regions into military sites, thus violating international norms.

The Council reassured the people of Aden and other occupied areas that military operations by Yemeni Armed Forces are aimed at Saudi military reinforcements and weaponry, not the local infrastructure. It urged residents to avoid being drawn into conflicts instigated by external aggressors, emphasizing that such disputes serve only the enemies of Yemen.

The statement lauded the people of Yemen's southern and eastern regions, from Aden to Al-Mahra, for their refusal to let their lands become arenas for foreign conflicts. It highlighted the increased awareness among Yemenis of the Saudi intentions to occupy Yemen, exploit its resources, and incite internal discord over the past 12 years.

The Council concluded that the Saudi military presence has brought only destruction, chaos, and worsening living conditions to the southern governorates, with rising prices and a lack of basic services exacerbating the suffering of local citizens.
