Shura Council Defense and Security Committee Reviews 1448 AH Work Plan

Sana'a: The Defense and Security Committee of the Shura Council met on Monday to review its work plan for the 1448 AH year and discuss recent developments on the domestic and regional fronts. The meeting was chaired by Shura Council Chairman Mohammed Hussein al-Aidroos and attended by Defense and Security Committee Chairman Maj. Gen. Yahya al-Mahdi, Deputy Chairman Mohsen Jameel, Rapporteur Hashem Al-Saqqaf, and other committee members.

According to Yemen News Agency, participants reviewed directives issued by the council's leadership and discussed mechanisms for implementing and following up on them to strengthen the committee's performance and address the requirements of the current phase. During the meeting, al-Aidroos stressed the importance of reinforcing what he described as the resilience of the home front, calling it the cornerstone of national security and social stability. He also urged adherence to the directives of Houthi leader Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi and their implementation across the committee's activities.

He further called for expanding community engagement and field visits in coordination with local authorities and relevant institutions to enhance public awareness and strengthen ties with local communities. Al-Aidroos praised the Defense and Security Committee's role in handling issues within its mandate and commended the armed forces and security agencies for what he described as their vigilance in confronting challenges and the plans of the Saudi-led coalition.

For his part, Committee Chairman Maj. Gen. Yahya al-Mahdi said the committee remained committed to carrying out its assigned responsibilities in line with the directives of the political and revolutionary leadership and the Shura Council's leadership. He said the committee would continue working to address rapidly evolving domestic and regional developments and to promote social cohesion and resilience.

Separately, the chairman of the Shura Council also attended part of a meeting of the council's Human Rights, Public Freedoms, and Civil Society Committee.
