Sana'a: The Southeast Sana'a Court, presided over by Judge Jaber al-Mughles and with Prosecutor Abdulkhaliq al-Mahaqeri present, has issued a verdict in the case of the murder of Hisham Hamid al-Kayyal and his wife, Asma' Abdu al-Dhubaibi, which occurred on Khawlan Street in the capital Sana'a.

According to Yemen News Agency, the verdict was delivered in a session attended by the victims' families, their lawyers, and the defense team. The court found Mohammed Ahmad Ali Majali, Mutie' Mohammed Ahmad Majali, Anwar Qa'id Ali al-Hadhari, Radman Ali Ahmad Majali, Ahmad Muhammad al-Hadhari, and Ali Muhammad al-Hadhari guilty of premeditated murder and sentenced them to death by firing squad for the killing of Hisham al-Kayyal and his wife, Asma'.

The court acquitted Adel Mohammed Ahmed Majali of the charges against him in the indictment and ordered his immediate release unless he was being held in connection with another case. The prosecution was also directed to return his confiscated belongings to him.

Furthermore, the court ordered the confiscation of items belonging to the first six defendants for the benefit of the state treasury. The defendants were jointly and severally ordered to pay the plaintiffs, the families of the two victims, ten million Yemeni riyals as compensation for the damages they suffered, including compensation due to the victims' children, Anas and Hamid Hisham al-Kayyal.

The court also ordered the defendants to pay the plaintiffs three million Yemeni riyals to cover litigation expenses. Following the pronouncement of the verdict, the court registered the defendants' request to appeal the ruling.

The court had commenced its first session in the case on January 11, when the Public Prosecution presented seven defendants for trial. It was proven that the defendants planned on the evening of Wednesday, December 17, 2025, and executed the murder of the victim Hisham Al-Kayyal and his wife Asma by following them with two cars and a motorcycle, and shooting at them while they were inside their car on Khawlan Street in the capital Sana'a in front of their two children, which led to their death and the injury of one of the children.
