Social Affairs Minister and WFP Envoy Discuss Resumption of Humanitarian Aid to Yemen

Sana'a: Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Samir Baja'alah met with World Food Programme (WFP) envoy to Yemen Abdullah al-Wardat to discuss ways to enhance cooperation in the humanitarian field. The meeting, attended by Deputy Minister for the Development Sector Ali al-Razami, concentrated on the WFP's crucial role in securing funding and restarting its operations, which have been on hold for several months.

According to Yemen News Agency, Minister Baja'alah emphasized the importance of the WFP in reducing humanitarian suffering by mobilizing resources and recommencing its halted activities. He highlighted that the pause in food assistance has exacerbated the humanitarian crisis in several regions, particularly within displaced persons communities.

The WFP envoy, Abdullah al-Wardat, provided an update on ongoing discussions with donors aimed at gathering the required resources to maintain food assistance for those in need across Yemen.
