Sana'a: Speaker of the House of Representatives Yahya Ali Al-Ra'i met today with Minister of Health and Environment Dr. Ali Shaiban, Chairman of the Supreme Medical Council Dr. Abdulkarim Shaiban, and Secretary-General of the Council Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Hammadi, to review the Council's professional and regulatory efforts over the past period.
According to Yemen News Agency, the Speaker listened to a briefing from the Minister of Health and the Chairman of the Supreme Medical Council on the Council's activities and its level of implementation of assigned tasks, particularly focusing on monitoring and enforcing laws governing the practice of medical professions and their implementing regulations.
The meeting, which was attended by the Assistant Secretary-General of Parliament Abdulrahman Al-Mansour, focused on evaluation mechanisms and standards for the Council's performance in academic education. The discussion emphasized the importance of alignment with global accreditation requirements to ensure the quality of medical graduates who can meet the needs of the health sector for qualified and competent medical personnel.
Speaker Al-Ra'i praised the efforts of the Ministry of Health and Environment and the Supreme Medical Council. He urged intensified work to improve the Council's performance, enhance the quality of medical professions, protect patients' rights, and strengthen the regulation and oversight of medical practitioners. He also stressed the need to keep pace with the challenges and exceptional circumstances the country faces in confronting the medical and health impacts of the ongoing aggression and blockade.
