Sana'a: The Specialized Criminal Division in the Capital Secretariat initiated its first session today to scrutinize the case involving 48 individuals accused of engaging in espionage, supporting adversaries, and establishing armed factions for assassinations and bombings across Sana'a and several governorates, including Amran, Dhamar, Hajjah, Al-Hudaydah, Ibb, and Al-Bayda. This case is recognized under the moniker 'Dhamar Cell' as part of extensive security operations.
According to Yemen News Agency, during the session led by Judge Abdullah Al-Najjar, the court reviewed the summary report detailing the charges against the defendants. The initial verdict had already resulted in the conviction of these individuals, with 44 sentenced to death and four others receiving prison sentences ranging from 2 to 15 years. The court also ordered the confiscation of items seized during the investigations, which included weapons, explosives, vehicles, communication devices, and computers.
The defense attorneys have been provided the opportunity to file their appeals before the next court session. The indictment outlines several grave accusations against the defendants, including the assassination of Dr. Raji Ahmed Abdulmalik Hamiduddin and an attempted assassination on Taha Ahmed Al-Mutawakkil using two 'LAW' rockets, which resulted in damage to his vehicle and minor injuries to another individual nearby.
Moreover, the indictment describes the attempted assassination of Amin Mohammed Ahmed Jumaan, wherein multiple rounds were fired at his vehicle, causing injuries and property damage. The defendants are also accused of conspiring to assassinate prominent government, military, and security leaders opposing aggression.
Additional charges include the killing of Ali Ali Al-Warith, the attempted murder of Colonel Issam Yahya Nasser Al-Ghaili, and the killing of Radman Nasser Ghanem Al-Wusabi. The indictment also mentions the wounding of civilians and security personnel during IED attacks at checkpoints, military sites, and reinforcements within Dhamar Governorate.
