Sana'a: The General Corporation for Spinning and Weaving and the Al-Jumhouri Hospital Authority in Hajja Governorate signed a contract for the sale and supply of medical supplies, specifically medical gauze. According to Yemen News Agency, the contract was signed by the Corporation's Director General, Engineer Walid Al-Qudami, and the Hospital Authority's Chairman, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Ashoul. It stipulates the monthly delivery of medical gauze in compliance with approved technical specifications, with shipments scheduled at the beginning of each month. During the signing, the Director General described the contract as a step in supporting national industry and localizing the production of medical supplies. Al-Qudami emphasized that relying on locally produced goods helps reduce dependence on imports and strengthens the stability of supply for public hospitals. He also confirmed the Corporation's commitment to ensuring product quality and compliance with approved health standards, while providing mechanisms to gu arantee consistent delivery. Dr. Ibrahim Al-Ashoul explained that the contract is part of efforts to secure the hospital's essential medical material needs and support health services for citizens. He stressed that the agreement will contribute to improving the hospital's readiness and reducing the risk of supply disruptions. He noted that the Authority expects this cooperation to positively impact healthcare spending efficiency and free financial resources that can be redirected to other medical services. Both parties confirmed that the agreement aligns with government directives to centralize the purchase of medical gauze from the General Corporation. It includes provisions ensuring product compliance with specifications, measures to enhance the quality of national products, as well as terms covering payment, delivery procedures, and dispute resolution. They also highlighted the importance of coordinating with the Ministry of Finance to ensure regular financial allocations for contract payments. This co ntract represents cooperation between the public sector and healthcare institutions in supporting local industry and securing the medical supply market, with expectations that it will create local job opportunities and strengthen national supply chains.
