Madrid: Final data released by the Spanish Statistics Office on Friday showed that Spain's consumer price inflation rate remained stable in August, unchanged from the preliminary figures issued earlier.
According to Yemen News Agency, the office reported that the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose by 2.7 percent in August, the same rate of increase as in July, in line with the preliminary data. Inflation based on the EU-harmonized index also stood at 2.7 percent year-on-year.
At the same time, core inflation-which excludes the more volatile items such as food and energy-rose to 2.4 percent in August, up from 2.3 percent in July.
The data further indicated that transportation costs contributed positively to the annual increase in consumer prices, while housing and food prices contributed negatively in August.
