Sanaa: The Supreme Elections and Referendum Committee marked the annual anniversary of Martyr President Saleh Al-Sammad with a central speech festival on Wednesday. The commemoration highlighted the contributions and sacrifices of Al-Sammad during his tenure as the head of the Supreme Political Council.
According to Yemen News Agency, the Chairman of the Supreme Elections Committee, Judge Mohammed Al-Salmi, emphasized that Al-Sammad assumed immense responsibilities during a critical period. He commended Al-Sammad’s efforts in unifying ranks and confronting external aggression from American, Saudi, and Emirati forces with courage, motivated by a sense of duty to God and the nation rather than personal gain.
Judge Al-Salmi remarked on Al-Sammad’s leadership during challenging times, noting his ability to manage national affairs with wisdom and competence. He praised Al-Sammad’s heroic stance and his dedication to defending the homeland and its sovereignty.
The Secretary-General of the Committee, Mohammed Al-Jalal, highlighted Al-Sammad’s background, noting his education and upbringing in a Quranic school. Al-Jalal stated that Al-Sammad took on the presidency amid external aggression and siege, showcasing vision and determination in steering the country through adversity.
Al-Jalal also recognized Al-Sammad’s leadership under Sayyed Abdul-Malik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, emphasizing the importance of commemorating Al-Sammad’s legacy. He noted that the remembrance serves as an opportunity to reflect on the values of pride, dignity, sacrifice, and dedication to defending the nation’s principles.
The event also paid homage to other martyrs, including leader Hussein Badr al-Din al-Houthi, whose sacrifices contributed to the resilience and success of the Yemeni people in the face of challenges. Despite ongoing aggression and siege, the Yemeni people remain steadfast in their support for their brothers in Gaza, demonstrating unwavering resolve until the aggression ceased.
