Taipei: Taiwanese Foreign Minister Lin Chia-long stated on Sunday that China is the real security threat and that it hypocritically claims to uphold the UN principles of peace. This statement came in response to remarks made by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi at the Munich Security Conference. According to Yemen News Agency, Lin emphasized that from the perspective of historical facts, objective reality, and international law, Taiwan is a sovereign state and has never been a vassal state of the People's Republic of China. Lin noted that Wang "boasted" about adhering to the purposes of the UN Charter and blamed other countries for regional tensions. Lin added that China has recently engaged in military provocations in the surrounding region and has repeatedly violated the UN Charter principles on refraining from the use of force or the threat of its use. He further remarked that this behavior reveals a hegemonic mentality where words do not align with actions. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi warned on Sat urday, during his address to the Munich Security Conference, that some countries are "trying to separate Taiwan from China." He blamed Japan for the tensions surrounding the island and stressed the importance of upholding the UN Charter. China considers Taiwan an integral part of its territory and a renegade province, adhering to the "One China" principle and the necessity of reunification, even by force.
