Sana'a: The Taiz branch of the Fund for the Care and Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities initiated its new year 1447 AH activities on Wednesday by distributing 125 wheelchairs and 45 assistive devices, including medical beds, mattresses, walkers, and white canes for the visually impaired. This effort aims to support individuals with motor, dual, and visual disabilities in the province.
According to Yemen News Agency, the launch event was attended by notable figures such as the Deputy Governor of Taiz, Hamed Abdo, and the Mobilization Officer, Mohammed Al-Khalidi. Hames Al-Habari, the Social Responsibility Officer in Taiz, highlighted the significance of these projects, which are designed to aid individuals with motor, hearing, and intellectual disabilities. He underscored that persons with disabilities are a vital part of the social fabric and urged collective responsibility in supporting and addressing their needs.
Mohammed Othman, Director of the Taiz branch, explained that this initiative is part of the third phase targeting persons with disabilities, aiming to alleviate their challenges and preserve their dignity. He advocated for dedicating 15% of sustainable projects to benefit persons with disabilities, facilitating their integration into society. He also mentioned that between 2015 and 2022, 878 children with cerebral atrophy were registered in the governorate, all requiring continuous treatment.
During the event, a speech was delivered on behalf of persons with disabilities, applauding the efforts of contributors in supporting and addressing the needs of this community segment.
