Taiz Local Authority Condemns Saudi Attack on Al-Wazi’iyah Market

Taiz:The local authority in Taiz Governorate has strongly condemned a recent attack by the Saudi forces that targeted a market in the Al-Wazi'iyah District. The assault, described as a brutal crime, resulted in an initial toll of more than 35 martyrs and wounded civilians.

According to Yemen News Agency, the local authority issued a statement denouncing the Saudi shelling of the popular market, which was crowded with civilians at the time of the attack. The statement criticized the Saudi regime for its continued targeting of innocent lives, labeling the incident as a blatant violation of international humanitarian norms, including the Geneva Conventions.

The local authority expressed disappointment over the ongoing international silence, particularly from the United Nations and human rights organizations, which it accused of being complicit in the crimes against the Yemeni people. It also held the United States accountable for providing political cover and support to the Saudi regime.

The statement asserted that the Saudi escalation would not go unanswered, as the local authority has delegated full authority to the Sayyid Leader and the Armed Forces to take necessary measures to deter aggressors and protect Yemeni lives. The local authority called on international human rights organizations to break their silence and hold the perpetrators accountable for war crimes and genocide throughout the years of conflict.
