Gaza: The second of November marks the grim anniversary of the Balfour Declaration, issued by the British government during World War I, in which Britain pledged to grant Palestine as a national homeland for the Jewish people. From that moment until the declaration of what is called 'Israel' in 1948, Britain worked with all its capabilities to implement that ill-fated promise and prepare the ground for the establishment of 'Israel,' exploiting its influence as a colonial power over many Arab countries to achieve this goal.
According to Yemen News Agency, the Arab states were unable to confront that pledge because they were weak entities-either under colonial rule or newly independent. After the so-called end of colonialism, with Palestine being the only exception, the concept of liberating Palestine from Zionist occupation was planted in Arab consciousness, and generations were raised upon that belief.
Yet the bitter truth is that the colonial powers never truly left. They blessed the 'independence' of Arab nations on the surface, only to work tirelessly to strip that independence of any real substance. They succeeded. Today, no Arab state can take a sovereign and serious decision without referring back to the colonial powers - the United States, Britain, and Western Europe.
Once, the Arab region had only one occupying and usurping entity - the Zionist regime. But through colonial policies, multiple Zionist-aligned regimes emerged, outdoing Israel in loyalty and subservience. One does not need extraordinary insight to recognize this. It is enough to mention the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain, which have become openly hostile to the Palestinian cause and any issue relating to Arab sovereignty and independence.
The UAE and many Gulf states no longer act as Arab or Islamic countries. Their normalization with the Zionist entity has crossed every line of treachery and submission to foreign domination, making them more dangerous to Palestine and the Arab people than Israel and the colonial powers themselves.
Today, only the Republic of Yemen remains in the Arab region as an independent, sovereign state making decisions based on its national, Arab, and international responsibilities. Yemen's stance on the crimes being committed by the Zionist entity in Gaza is clear and recognized globally.
