Hodeida: The Public Roads and Bridges Authority launched on Wednesday a training course on the basics of first aid. The three-day course, organized by the Authority's Roads Vocational Training Center, aims to equip 28 trainees from the Authority's staff with the knowledge required to provide immediate assistance in emergency situations, preserve the life of the injured, and enhance their skills in administering first aid, including communication and handling of emergency cases.

According to Yemen News Agency, the course also seeks to encourage participants to take preventive measures to avoid injuries and illnesses, boost their confidence in providing first aid, teach them how to use first aid tools ('first aid kits'), and instill awareness of the importance of health and safety at house or at work sites.

At the opening, the Chairman of the Public Roads and Bridges Authority, Eng. Abdulrahman Al-Hadrami, emphasized the importance of organizing such courses related to occupational safety, noting their positive impact on protecting the well-being of the Authority's staff, particularly those working on projects. He highlighted that first aid is of utmost importance in providing initial assistance to anyone in need, helping to preserve life or prevent disability in the event of an accident or sudden illness, until the person can be transported to a hospital.

Eng. Al-Hadrami added that the Authority's leadership gives significant attention to training as part of its annual plan, ensuring that programs cover various work-related aspects, with first aid being a priority that everyone should be familiar with. He explained that the course includes both theoretical and practical components to ensure optimal results, urging trainees to make the most of the training and apply the knowledge and skills they gain in real-life situations.

The course covers numerous topics and concepts related to the fundamentals and principles of first aid, including handling burns, bleeding, fainting, choking, poisoning, fractures of various types, performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and other essential skills for managing injuries according to their type and severity.
