Transport and Public Works Ministers Oversee Strategic Road Projects in Hodeida

Hodeida: Minister of Transport and Public Works Mohammed Qahim and Hodeida Abdullah Atifi conducted an inspection of ongoing road expansion and maintenance projects aimed at improving infrastructure and traffic conditions in the region.

According to Yemen News Agency, the inspection focused on the expansion and rehabilitation of the northern entrance to Hodeida city, specifically the al-Sham-Salif road, and the repair and maintenance of the main road in the al-Turbah area of Bajil district. The expansion project involves paving a new 15-kilometer lane to create a dual carriageway, complete with medians, lighting, and landscaping. This project, with a budget of 2.5 billion riyals, is funded jointly by the local authority and the Road Maintenance Fund.

Qahim and Atifi met with project managers to discuss the progress of construction and technical work, emphasizing the importance of adhering to specifications and timelines. They urged for increased efforts to complete the project, highlighting its role in reducing traffic congestion and accidents. They also assessed the pothole repair and maintenance work in the Al-Turbah area, focusing on road safety and service continuity.

Minister Qahim noted that these projects align with directives from the revolutionary leadership and the Supreme Political Council, underscoring the priority given to the roads sector to enhance services for citizens. He described the northern entrance expansion as a crucial artery that will aid in the movement of people and goods to and from the port of Salif.

The Ministry's infrastructure development plans prioritize Hodeida due to its economic and service significance. Qahim reiterated the commitment to overcoming obstacles to ensure the sustainability of these vital projects, aiming to meet modern engineering and technical standards for quality and durability.

Governor Atifi praised the cooperation between the local authority and the Road Maintenance Fund, considering the al-Turbah road project a significant enhancement to the governorate's infrastructure. He emphasized the leadership's focus on reviving stalled projects and improving roads to serve the public interest and ease travel burdens.
