Marib: A tribal reconciliation in Ibb governorate on Wednesday resolved a 25-year-old murder case between al-Ghazali and al-Banna families from the Sahban district of al-Sayani. According to Yemen News Agency, the event, attended by Deputy Governor of Ibb, Abdulhamid Al-Shahri, and the Director of the Central Reformatory, Brigadier General Anwar al-Mutawakil, saw the family of the victim, Ahmed Ahmad al-Banna, grant forgiveness to the perpetrator, Abdu Ahmad al-Ghazali, as a gesture of goodwill and in response to the call of the Revolution Leader, Sayyed Abdulmalik al-Houthi, for resolving societal conflicts.
Al-Shahri emphasized that the reconciliation reflects the deep-rooted values of forgiveness and reconciliation in Yemeni society, highlighting the importance of overcoming painful past events and fostering brotherhood among community members. He commended the victim's family for their honorable decision to forgive and their responsibility in seeking peace.
Al-Shahri also pointed out that resolving tribal disputes is crucial for enhancing community security and stability, and stressed the need for continued official and public efforts to eliminate vengeance-related issues, promote peace, and foster a culture of forgiveness.
Brigadier General Al-Mutawakil noted that the resolution of this case after so many years is a reflection of the community's awareness and desire for social justice through peaceful and brotherly means. He praised the role of local leaders in bridging differences and reaching this agreement.
The mediation committee confirmed that the reconciliation was the result of continuous efforts by good-hearted people in the region, and emphasized that the forgiveness shown by the victim's family exemplifies Yemen's traditional values and is an important step toward reinforcing security, stability, and social harmony.
