Trump Threatens 100% Tariffs on Foreign Films

Washington: U.S. President Donald Trump has stated that he will impose 100 percent tariffs on all films produced abroad and then sent to the United States, reiterating a threat he made last May that would upend Hollywood's global business model. "Other countries have stolen the movie business from the United States, just like stealing candy from a child," Trump said in a post on Truth Social on Monday.

According to Yemen News Agency, it remains unclear what legal authority Trump will use to impose 100 percent tariffs on films made abroad. This move signals Trump's willingness to expand protectionist trade policies to include cultural industries, raising uncertainty for studios that rely heavily on cross-border co-productions and overseas ticket revenue.
