Istanbul: The Turkish airline "Onur Air," which has been out of operation since 2022, announced its bankruptcy on Thursday evening, stating that all its financial transactions over the past five years will be subject to examination. The Second Bakirk¶y Commercial Court appointed a bankruptcy administration to oversee the legal liquidation process of the company, which was founded in 1992. The administration will handle the management of the remaining assets and the settlement of debts.
According to Yemen News Agency, the court's decision includes procedures such as placing a bankruptcy notice on all properties owned by the company, providing detailed reports on mortgages and seizures, and examining all financial and real estate transactions carried out during the past five years. The company faced multiple financial problems, beginning to delay salary payments since 2020. A report on October 14, 2024, revealed the non-payment of dues to 1,800 employees, including their salaries and severance compensations. Employees had submitted complaints through the CIMER platform for years without achieving results.
Media reports indicate that the company's management prolonged negotiations with employees under the pretext of searching for a new partner before dismissing all workers on April 10, 2023. These actions were classified as forced termination of employment.
