Sana'a: Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for International Cooperation, Ambassador Ismail Al-Mutawakkil, met with UNICEF's Resident Representative in Yemen, Peter Hawkins, who extended condolences over the crime targeting the Prime Minister of the Government of Change and Construction and his colleagues in Sana'a.
According to Yemen News Agency, Ambassador Al-Mutawakkil appreciated UNICEF's condolences and solidarity in response to the Israeli aggression that targeted the Yemeni Prime Minister and his colleagues. He described this gesture as a reflection of the strong partnership between Yemen and international humanitarian organizations.
The Deputy Minister emphasized the gravity of the attack, labeling it a dangerous escalation against a civilian government performing its duties. He criticized the attack as a blatant violation of legal and humanitarian standards, underscoring the need for a clear condemnation from the international community, particularly the United Nations.
Ambassador Al-Mutawakkil highlighted the unprecedented nature of the attack, noting it as the first instance of an entire government meeting being targeted by airstrikes, breaching international law. He asserted that Yemen is suffering due to its principled stance against the genocide in Gaza.
UNICEF Representative Hawkins expressed sorrow over the incident and confirmed the organization's unwavering solidarity with the Yemeni people. He reassured that UNICEF's projects in education, health, water, and relief will continue, unaffected by the attack, maintaining their humanitarian and development efforts in Yemen.
