Sana'a: On September 4, the US-Saudi coalition marked another year of hostilities in Yemen, characterized by the targeting of civilian infrastructure such as hospitals, schools, and homes, leading to numerous fatalities and injuries, including those of women and children.
According to Yemen News Agency, the aggression began on September 4, 2015, with airstrikes that killed seven civilians, including two children and a woman, in Saada Governorate. The strikes targeted Sha'ara Hospital and civilian homes in Razih District. Additionally, an airstrike in the Dhahban area of Sana'a resulted in one death and six injuries. The coalition also damaged civilian homes in the Old City of Sana'a and launched strikes on educational and residential sites in Ibb Governorate.
The following year, on September 4, 2016, attacks continued with the killing of Sheikh Mujahid Al-Assar in Jawf Governorate due to artillery fire. Airstrikes in Hodeida demolished a syndicate building, while other strikes in Saada Governorate claimed several lives, including a family of three. The coalition's use of cluster bombs in Saada further devastated the region, destroying a water project and homes.
Yemen News Agency reports that by September 4, 2017, the aggression persisted with airstrikes damaging farms and properties in Saada and Hajjah Governorates, as well as causing casualties in Kitaf and Baqim Districts. On September 4, 2018, airstrikes and missile shelling injured civilians and damaged infrastructure in Saada and Hodeida Governorates.
In 2019, a mortar shell claimed a child's life in Hodeida, and artillery shelling injured civilians across various districts. The following year, in 2020, airstrikes in Marib Governorate injured several children, while shelling targeted multiple areas, illustrating the ongoing nature of the conflict.
On September 4, 2021, the coalition launched multiple raids across Marib, Sa'dah, and Hodeida Governorates, causing significant property damage. In 2022, reconnaissance aircraft and artillery shelling targeted various governorates, including Ma'rib and Taiz, further exacerbating the humanitarian crisis.
Most recently, on September 4, 2023, reconnaissance aircraft conducted raids in Taiz and Hodeida, while combat fortifications and artillery shelling continued to impact civilians. The following year, in 2024, an explosive device in Marib Governorate claimed the life of Abdullah Nasser Hussein Balhat, emphasizing the lingering dangers of the conflict.
