Sana’a: On this day, February 8, across multiple years, a series of air raids and attacks by the US-Saudi-Emirati coalition resulted in significant civilian casualties and destruction of property in various Yemeni governorates.
According to Yemen News Agency, on February 8, 2016, the coalition forces launched 12 air raids on the Bran, Ad-Dajreen, Daboua, and Masoura areas, and five additional raids on Malah, Daboua, Bani Shakwan, and Jabal Al-Madfoun in the Nehm district of Sana’a governorate. These attacks led to extensive damage to agricultural lands and homes. The aggression also targeted Al-Hazim village in Marib governorate and multiple strategic locations in Taiz and Hodeida governorates, among others, causing widespread destruction.
The following year, on February 8, 2017, three children were killed, and others injured in a raid on their home in the Baqim district of Sa’ada governorate. The air force conducted multiple raids across Sana’a, Hajjah, and Taiz governorates, causing severe damage to homes and properties. Further attacks included drone strikes and heavy weapon assaults by mercenaries on citizens’ homes in Al-Jawf governorate.
February 8, 2018, witnessed the killing of seven citizens, including women and children, in a bombing of a home in Al-Jawf governorate. The airstrikes also claimed the life of a journalist in Hodeida and targeted a poultry carrier, causing its destruction. Multiple air raids were executed in Amran, Hajjah, and Taiz governorates, alongside targeted attacks on educational facilities and civilian areas.
In 2019, the aggression continued with the martyrdom of a citizen at a checkpoint in Baydha governorate. Mercenaries launched artillery attacks in Hodeida governorate, killing two citizens and damaging shops and properties. The air force conducted numerous raids in Al-Jawf and Sa’ada governorates, causing extensive property damage.
The following year, on February 8, 2020, shelling by mercenaries resulted in injuries and damage in the Doraihimi district of Hodeida governorate. Mercenaries targeted residential areas and military installations in the region, using artillery and guided missiles. Air raids were also carried out in Sana’a and Al-Jawf governorates, leading to significant infrastructure damage.
February 8, 2021, saw the continuation of air raids with three strikes on Sirwah district in Marib governorate. The subsequent year, in 2022, Saudi artillery shelling killed a citizen and injured four others in Munabih district, Sa’ada governorate. Widespread air raids were executed in multiple districts across Sana’a, Hajjah, Marib, and Al-Jawf governorates, with artillery shelling affecting areas in Hodeida.
Most recently, on February 8, 2023, spy planes launched an attack on the Hays district in Hodeida governorate. Mercenaries established combat positions in Tohaita district and continued artillery assaults across the governorate, further exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in the region.
