Sana'a: On this day, August 8, the US-Saudi-Emirati coalition launched a series of airstrikes across multiple Yemeni governorates, targeting civilian infrastructure, homes, and public spaces, resulting in numerous casualties, including women and children.
According to Yemen News Agency, the aggression began in 2015 with airstrikes on the city of Ibb using internationally prohibited weapons, leading to the deaths of two citizens and injuries to two others. Subsequently, Saada Governorate witnessed over a dozen airstrikes, severely damaging homes in Dhahyan and Rahban and destroying properties in the Maran and Ghamar areas.
In 2016, an airstrike on a popular market in Al-Adhri village, Nihm District, resulted in 30 casualties. Hodeida also faced airstrikes, damaging the eastern gate of its port and public property. Meanwhile, Saada's Haydan District endured missile shelling, adding to the devastation.
The years following saw repeated airstrikes across various regions. In 2017, residential areas near the Ghee and Soap Factory in Taiz suffered artillery shelling, while airstrikes in Saada's Al-Dhahir District damaged local farms. The aggression continued with attacks on civilian properties in Marib and Amran Governorates.
In 2018, the assaults intensified, with an airstrike on Al-Hamdani Farm in Hajjah Governorate killing six citizens. The Harf Sufyan District in Amran saw further fatalities when Bedouin tents were targeted. Saada's Minabbih District faced artillery shelling, leading to civilian injuries and property damage.
In 2019, artillery shelling in Al-Hali District, Hodeida, resulted in more casualties. Saada Governorate continued to endure airstrikes and missile attacks, affecting the border district of Minabbih. The aggression persisted in 2020, with artillery and machine-gun fire in Beit Al-Faqih District, Hodeida, and multiple airstrikes in Al-Bayda Governorate.
By 2021, the coalition's airstrikes had expanded to include the Al-Fara' area in Saada's Kataf District and Sirwah District in Marib. Combat fortifications were established in Beit Al-Faqih District, and shelling intensified across various Hodeida neighborhoods.
In 2022, reconnaissance aircraft launched airstrikes in northern Hays, Hodeida, while mercenaries shelled multiple areas, including Marib, Taiz, and Hajjah Governorates. The aggression continued into 2023, with combat fortifications and artillery attacks further impacting Hodeida's Al-Jabaliyah area and Hays District.
