US-Saudi-Emirati Airstrikes Result in Civilian Casualties Across Yemen

Sana'a: On this day in history, July 11, multiple airstrikes by US-Saudi-Emirati forces resulted in considerable civilian casualties, including women and children, across various Yemeni governorates. According to Yemen News Agency, the attacks on July 11, 2015, led to the deaths of nine individuals in the Fadha and Al-Juraybat areas of Bayda Governorate. The airstrikes also targeted a vehicle carrying women and two oil tankers on the city's main road. In Al-Ta'iziyah District, Taiz Governorate, two children were killed and six citizens wounded when their home was bombed. The strikes further demolished six homes, damaging four others and several cars. The aggression continued in the capital, Sana'a, where Jabal Nuqum and the outpatient clinics of Al-Thawra Hospital were targeted. The Spinning and Weaving Factory, the oldest in the Arabian Peninsula, also faced destruction. In Aden Governorate, a truck carrying food supplies was hit, along with multiple areas including Al-Arish, Al-Basatin, and Al-Mualla. Fu rther airstrikes occurred in Lahj, Hajjah, Shabwah, and Marib governorates, among others, over subsequent years. On July 11, 2016, airstrikes were reported on the Sarwah market and Al-Ashqari area in Marib. By 2017, the Al-Maton and Al-Humaydat districts in Al-Jawf Governorate were among the targeted locations. In 2018, civilian casualties continued with a citizen killed and another injured in Lahj Governorate. The coalition also launched attacks in Saada Governorate, resulting in fatalities and injuries, while border shelling by Saudi forces damaged homes and properties. The conflict persisted in subsequent years, with significant airstrikes reported on July 11, 2020, including targets in Taiz, Marib, Sa'dah, and Hodeida governorates. Artillery shelling by mercenaries continued to cause damage in Hodeida. The pattern of attacks extended to 2021 and 2022, with airstrikes and shelling damaging civilian property and causing injuries in governorates such as Marib, Taiz, Hajjah, and Hodeida. By July 11, 2023, reconnaissance aircraft had launched multiple raids on Hodeida, continuing the trend of aggression and civilian harm.
