Al-arf area: A development team from Taiz Governorate inspected several community initiatives implemented in the field of water reservoir construction in the Al-Arf area of Al-Habiba sub-district, Maqbana District. These initiatives are part of an executive plan aimed at enhancing and developing cheese production and marketing in the governorate.
According to Yemen News Agency, the team, which included district director Abdulrahman Sinan, director of the Agricultural Projects Financing Unit Hussein Al-Rashidi, initiatives manager Mustafa Bahjar, representative of the Central Interventions Unit Badr Al-Tayyar, head of the governorate's Agricultural Cooperative Union branch Majid Al-Athouri, coordinator of the Bunyan Foundation Iyad Awaj, and Public Mobilization Initiatives Officer Mohammed Labib, reviewed the project components and assessed the actual needs of the local community.
The project focuses on constructing rainwater harvesting reservoirs to provide sustainable water sources that support livestock breeding and dairy product production, especially the local cheese industry. This industry is a significant economic activity for families in the area. The visit aimed to evaluate the work completed on the water reservoirs and determine the necessary interventions to complete the planned 56 reservoirs. These efforts are part of a strategy to develop and improve the production and marketing of local cheese through community partnership.
The team highlighted that the project is a key development intervention that combines water resource management with livestock production and rural industry promotion. This integration adds value to local products, enhances marketing opportunities, and increases economic returns for beneficiary families.
They underscored the importance of directing development interventions towards projects linked to production value chains, as these projects directly impact rural communities' economies. The projects aim to improve production, raise income levels, expand job opportunities, and enhance the economic stability of productive families.
The team praised the level of community engagement, noting that it reflects the success of the community partnership approach in identifying and sustainably implementing development needs and priorities.
