Sana'a: The General Directorate of Public Relations and Moral Guidance, represented by the Women's Police Awareness Department at the Ministry of Interior, organized on Monday a cultural event to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) - Ashura - under the slogan "Never shall we submit to humiliation."
According to Yemen News Agency, the event featured a speech by Yusra al-Bahri, Director of the Women's Police Awareness Department, who emphasized the significance of commemorating Ashura as a religious and cultural milestone. She highlighted the values of sacrifice, patience, and steadfastness embodied by Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) in confronting injustice and tyranny. Al-Bahri noted that this commemoration enhances awareness and insight, reinforcing the spirit of responsibility in facing challenges, and called for emulating the great stances taken by the school of Karbala in practical reality.
Hanan al-Shami, Director of Girls' Education at the Ministry of Education and Scientific Research, spoke about the status of Imams Hassan and Hussein (peace be upon them), citing hadiths of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) regarding their virtues. She reviewed the events of the Battle of Karbala, connecting its significance to the current state of the Muslim world and the challenges it faces.
Cultural activist Asia al-Mahdi discussed the reasons leading to the Battle of Karbala, stressing the importance of drawing lessons to strengthen unity. She warned against the dangers of discord and spreading rumors during this sensitive period, urging adherence to the directives of the Supreme Leader and emphasizing the need for increased readiness and support for the armed forces until the aggression and the siege are ended.
