Sana'a: The Public Administration Center at Sana'a University organized a scientific workshop on Monday to launch the academic Master's and Doctoral programs in Public Administration.
According to Yemen News Agency, during the workshop, Dr. Zaid Al-Warith, Assistant to the University President for Center Affairs, noted that the introduction of these programs is part of the university's postgraduate studies initiatives and contributes to keeping pace with scientific developments in the field of public administration, which is considered a discipline that addresses administrative and financial issues in public institutions.
He highlighted that the Public Administration Center is one of the oldest centers at the university, having graduated more than 16 cohorts in the field of Executive Master's programs. This prompted the university leadership, the Development and Quality Assurance Center, and the specialized committee to review, academically, financially, and administratively evaluate 25 centers at the university, including the Public Administration Center.
Dr. Al-Warith emphasized that the evaluation committee's recommendations called for updating and developing academic programs at the postgraduate level to align with modern requirements and labor market needs, alongside developments in security and military fields, as part of the university's efforts to obtain national academic accreditation for postgraduate programs after securing accreditation for its undergraduate programs.
He added that this phase required reconsidering the Executive Master's program at the Public Administration Center and transforming it into an academic Master's and Doctoral program to meet the evolving needs of government agencies in line with the state's main directives.
The workshop, attended by a select group of academics from the Development and Quality Assurance Center, research centers, the Public Administration Center, the College of Commerce and Economics, and the center's students, discussed the programs' documents, proposals for updating and developing them, and recommendations to ensure that the outcomes contribute to a developmental renaissance in public administration and to the training and qualification of state institution personnel.
Dr. Huda Al-Imad, Assistant to the University President for Quality Affairs and Dean of the Development and Quality Assurance Center, affirmed the university's commitment to the continuous updating of academic programs, noting its impact on raising Sana'a University's ranking in global university listings, where it has advanced more than five thousand positions in a few years.
She also highlighted that the university has proven its excellence, obtaining national academic accreditation for all its programs, and is now seeking international accreditation. She pointed out that the Public Administration Center, established in 2007, required study and evaluation to align with other academic programs in Business Administration, Comprehensive Development, Human Rights, and Migration.
In the workshop, attended by Dr. Adel Al-Hababi, Assistant to the University President for Media Affairs, Dr. Fadl Al-Mahmoudi, Director of the Public Administration Center, stated that the center represents a qualitative addition to the educational programs at Sana'a University and the higher education system, aiming to improve public sector performance, develop communities, and enhance administrative leadership capabilities.
He reviewed the developments the center has witnessed since its establishment until 2025, highlighting its role in qualification and training, consulting, research, publication, and scientific conferences, as well as its expected contribution to creating a qualitative shift in institutional performance and producing qualified personnel in training and development according to international best practices.
He noted that the center has graduated 17 cohorts to date, with 1,070 students currently enrolled, 591 students having completed preparatory Master's courses, and 322 graduates.
Dr. Ahmed Nasser explained that the academic Master's and Doctoral programs in Public Administration aim to prepare highly qualified personnel academically, professionally, and in research, equipping them with the knowledge and techniques necessary to address emerging challenges in administration, conduct applied research, and develop analytical and creative thinking skills.
He also discussed the strategic objectives of the programs, their structure, curriculum, study methods, admission requirements, and graduation criteria.
