Sanaa: The Ministry of Information and the 26 September and Yemen newspapers held a stand on Thursday to commemorate the first anniversary of the Israeli attack on their headquarters, which resulted in the martyrdom of 31 journalists and media professionals. The stand was held under the slogan "Assassination of Journalists: A War Crime That Will Not Be Forgotten."
According to Yemen News Agency, the stand was organized with broad participation from journalists, media professionals, and families of the martyrs, marking the first anniversary of the Israeli attack on the 26 September and Al-Yemen newspapers on September 10, 2025. At the stand, which was attended by Deputy Minister of Information Dr. Omar al-Bukhaiti, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information for External Relations and Media, Mohammed Mansour, reiterated the Ministry's condolences to the entire media community for the martyrdom of a group of journalists and media professionals from the 26 September and Al-Yemen newspapers.
He pointed out that on this day, the Zionist enemy targeted the newspapers 26 September and Al-Yemen, this leading media institution within the framework of Yemen's great struggle in defense of its sovereignty and in support of Palestine. He added, "Everyone sees the victories of the armed forces on the ground, which are a fruit of the martyrs' sacrifices. We affirm that the path for which the martyrs fell is the same path we will follow."
The Undersecretary, Mansour, called on media outlets to be accurate and credible in reporting everything related to Yemen, specifically those channels that falsely claim to represent diverse viewpoints. He expressed regret that these channels have become mouthpieces for mercenaries and the policies of the Saudi enemy.
He said, "We are engaged in the battle for the promised victory and the holy jihad. We need sacrifices, and there is no jihad without sacrifices. The media has made great sacrifices, and we have ministers who were martyrs from among the media, foremost among them the martyred Minister Hashem Sharaf al-Din." Mansour reiterated the commitment to following the path of the martyrs in defense of Yemen, its sovereignty, and independence. He pledged to the leader of the revolution, Sayyid Abdul-Malik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, that journalists would remain true to their responsibilities and uphold the country's values and principles.
At the vigil, which was attended by the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) and Deputy Editor-in-Chief, Mohammed Abdul-Quddus al-Shar'i, and the Director of the Editorial Department, Naji al-Shay'ani, journalist Fawaz al-Salmi from the 26 September newspaper offered condolences to the families of the heroic martyrs of Yemeni media, the knights of truth, who fell in the battle of "The Promised Victory and the Holy Jihad."
The statement affirmed the commitment to continuing on the path of the martyrs until the promised victory is achieved. It reiterated the failure of all the enemy's attempts to silence the media through its crimes, asserting that these crimes have only served to strengthen resolve, unify ranks, and persevere in the struggle. It expressed solidarity with all journalists and media outlets targeted by the Zionist enemy in Palestine, Lebanon, and other countries, urging everyone to continue exposing the crimes of the temporary entity, given the pivotal role of the media in this struggle.
The statement strongly condemned the double standards employed by Western and international bodies towards those who commit crimes against journalists, and their failure to impose the harshest penalties on them. It deemed the reactions from international organizations weak and complicit, representing a silent funeral for international law and related conventions. It affirmed that Palestine will remain the central issue for Yemen, that Al-Aqsa Mosque is an Islamic holy site that cannot be compromised, and that every Yemeni journalist will stand shoulder to shoulder with the armed forces in support of their brothers and sisters in Palestine and all targeted Arab and Islamic countries.
The statement issued at the rally reiterated the warning against the danger of media normalization by media outlets that claim to be from within the nation but adopt the enemy's media policy with the aim of disguising falsehood as truth, distorting the nation's priorities, and misleading its people, considering this a complete betrayal that will bring its perpetrator loss in this world and Allah's punishment in the hereafter.
