Sana'a: The Yemeni Center for Human Rights has issued a condemnation of the systematic violations of international humanitarian law attributed to US forces and the Israeli occupation in Yemen and Palestine. The center highlighted the targeting of civilians and destruction of essential infrastructure as key violations, citing Articles 48 and 54 of Additional Protocol I.
According to Yemen News Agency, the center's statement reported US forces conducted several raids on Sana'a and other governorates in mid-March, resulting in 61 civilian deaths and 139 injuries. In Sa'ada, a solar energy supply store was targeted by US aircraft, resulting in two deaths and four injuries. Additionally, a residential home in Sana'a's Sheab al-Hafa area was bombed, killing four family members and injuring 25 others.
The statement also accused US President Donald Trump of ordering an airstrike during Eid al-Fitr in Hodeida, which resulted in numerous casualties. This act was described as a war crime, with Trump allegedly acknowledging the attack on social media. The center urged national and international legal bodies to prosecute Trump and those involved in this decision.
The center contended these attacks are war crimes under Article 8 of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court. It further criticized Trump's public remarks about the attacks, stating they violate Article 85 of Additional Protocol I. The Yemeni Center holds the US accountable for ongoing aggressions in Yemen and Gaza, as well as complicity in alleged genocide crimes in Gaza.
The center called on the UN Security Council to investigate these incidents and urged international organizations to support legal actions against the perpetrators. It also called on global civil society to act against such violations and urged Arab and Islamic countries to support the Palestinian and Yemeni peoples in stopping these crimes.
