Taiz: The Yemeni Center for Human Rights condemned on Friday the massacre committed by Islah Party mercenaries affiliated with the aggression coalition against Yemen. In a statement, the center expressed its strong condemnation of the crime committed by this group when they deliberately shelled children playing in al-Hashmah residential area in al-Taezeyah district, resulting in the deaths of five children: Mubarak Yasser Ali Ahmed Ghaleb Al-Sharabi (14), Osama Abu Bakr Ahmed Ali (12), Bashir Akram Mohammed Al-Fadhli, Anas Jawad Mohammed Saleh (14), and Ahmed Ali Muqbil Abdullah Al-Atmi (12).
According to Yemen News Agency, medical reports from al-Rifai Hospital in Sofitel area confirmed that the victims arrived lifeless, suffering from severe injuries caused by shrapnel from direct shelling, reflecting a violation of international and humanitarian conventions. The Center noted that this act constitutes a war crime under international humanitarian law and violates the Convention on the Rights of the Child, which guarantees the protection of children in armed conflict.
The Center condemned the crime, stating it is part of a series of violations committed by the aggression coalition and its mercenaries for over ten years. It urged the Security Council and the United Nations to take responsibility in condemning this and previous crimes against the Yemeni people. The statement called on human rights and humanitarian organizations to break their silence regarding the coalition's crimes, urging them to condemn this act.
The Center emphasized that the blood of Taiz's children, spilled on the sidewalks of al-Arsoum, is not a mere statistic but a stain on humanity. It appealed for urgent action to halt the mercenaries' brutality, which is turning neighborhoods into mass graves for children.
