Kabul: The national junior football team from Yemen began their campaign in the AFC U-17 Championship finals with a significant 2-0 victory over Afghanistan in the first round of Group B. The goals for the team were netted by Mohammed Noman in the 24th minute and Mohammed Al-Jarash, who scored from a penalty kick in the 26th minute.
According to Yemen News Agency, the Yemeni team is set to face Indonesia in their second group match next Monday, followed by their final group match against South Korea on Thursday. The ongoing championship features sixteen teams divided into four distinct groups. Group A includes Uzbekistan, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, and China. Group B comprises Australia, Vietnam, Japan, and the UAE. Group C, where Yemen is placed, includes Afghanistan, Indonesia, and South Korea, while Group D consists of Oman, Iran, North Korea, and Tajikistan.
