Sana'a: The Yemeni Olympic Committee has officially approved Yemen's participation in three significant upcoming international events. The decision covers the Asian Games in Japan, where Yemen will compete in nine sports, the Youth Olympic Games in Dakar with participation in two sports, and the Asian Indoor Games featuring eight sports.
According to Yemen News Agency, the committee has decided to delay the decision regarding the lifting of the suspension of the Football Association. This postponement will remain until a comprehensive report is submitted and approved. Moreover, the committee is seeking an Olympic Solidarity scholarship for table tennis player Ibrahim Jabran to aid in his preparations for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
Committee President Abdulrahman Al-Akwa extended his congratulations to the national football team following their qualification for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup. He emphasized the importance of resolving the Football Association's suspension in line with the committee's regulations. Furthermore, Al-Akwa highlighted that financial constraints, due to suspended funding from international Olympic bodies, have disrupted many of the committee's activities. He also underscored the necessity for a thorough evaluation of athletes selected for international competitions.
