Sana'a: The Ministry of Youth and Sports held a press conference in Sana'a to commemorate the eleventh anniversary of the National Day of Steadfastness. During the conference, Undersecretary of Youth and Sports, Nabeh Nasser, reviewed the direct and indirect damages and losses suffered by the youth and sports sector as a result of the brutal US-Saudi-Emirati aggression since March 2015.
According to Yemen News Agency, Nasser provided a detailed account of the human and material losses inflicted on this vital sector, emphasizing that the targeting was not random but rather systematic and deliberate, aimed at crushing the aspirations of Yemeni youth. He explained that 464 martyrs from the Ministry's staff and affiliated bodies, as well as members of youth and sports federations and organizations, were killed. He added that the destructive machinery of aggression inflicted damage and losses on 136 vital youth and sports facilities across 17 governorates. The forces of aggression did not stop at destroying stadiums and sports venues, but also targeted the administrative headquarters of youth and sports clubs and organizations, youth hostels, and training centers.
The Undersecretary stated that the total estimated cost of the material losses to the youth and sports facilities that suffered total or partial destruction exceeded one billion dollars. He pointed out that this reflects the deep-seated hatred displayed by the American-Saudi-Emirati aggression against the Yemeni people. He praised the steadfastness and resilience of those working in the youth and sports sector, which has yielded numerous successes in domestic and international competitions throughout the 11 years of aggression. He noted that these attacks have only strengthened the resolve and determination of Yemen's youth and athletes, proving their unbreakable spirit and enabling them to achieve accomplishments and raise the Yemeni flag at international events.
Meanwhile, the Ministry's Projects Director, Engineer Ahmed Al-Tuwaiti, presented a technical and statistical overview, including a map of the destruction across the governorates, details of the losses and damages, and the number of targeted facilities in each governorate. Illustrative photographs of the facilities before and after the bombing were also displayed.
The conference was attended by the Ministry's Undersecretaries for Youth Affairs, Abdullah Al-Razihi; for Sports Affairs, Ali Hadban; and Engineer Ramzi Al-Aghbari; as well as the Head of the Technical Office, Mohammed Al-Kabari; and Assistant Undersecretaries Dr. Kamal Al-Sharif, Dr. Jaber Al-Bawab, and Yahya Al-Ma'khadhi.
