Zakat Authority Office in Taiz Launches Ramadan Charity Projects

Taiz: The General Authority of Zakat office in Taiz Governorate today launched its Ramadan charity projects for the year 1447 AH.

According to Yemen News Agency, the initiatives include the Zakat al-Fitr project, targeting 11,820 families at a cost of 236.4 million riyals, and a cash assistance program for 5,080 vulnerable families with a monthly cost of 101.6 million riyals, bringing the annual total for this program to 1.2192 billion riyals.

Director of the Zakat Authority office in the governorate, Shawqi Maghles, explained that these projects come within the Authority's commitment to distributing zakat according to Islamic guidelines, fulfilling its objectives, strengthening the values of compassion and social solidarity.

He noted that these two initiatives are part of a broader range of projects implemented during Ramadan, including support for debtors, freeing individuals in bondage, medical assistance, and other programs carried out throughout the year.

Maghles called on traders, the well-off, and all eligible contributors to promptly pay their zakat due to its tangible impact, urging citizens to ensure the payment of Zakat al-Fitr so it reaches as many poor and needy people as possible before Eid.
