Al-hodeidah: The 13th meeting between the government and the private sector took place in Al-Hodeidah Governorate, attended by key officials including Minister of Finance Abdeljabbar Ahmed, Acting Minister of Economy, Industry, Investment Sam Al-Bashiri, and Governor of Al-Hodeidah Abdullah Atifi. The meeting aimed to enhance the partnership with the private sector in alignment with the directives of Sayyid Abdulmalik Badreddin Al-Houthi.
According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting saw the participation of Chairman of the General Investment Authority Mohammed Ishaq, Executive Director of the Standards, Metrology, and Quality Control Authority Abdullah Al-Atifi, and Vice President of the General Union of Chambers of Commerce and Industry Mohammed Salah. It focused on addressing the challenges faced by various sector activities in the governorate, as detailed in a matrix presented by the private sector. This matrix is set to be referred to relevant authorities for urgent resolution.
Minister of Finance Abdeljabbar Ahmed emphasized the importance of holding weekly meetings in governorates to better understand the needs of the private sector and engage directly with traders and businesspeople. He highlighted the significance of the joint decision to integrate government and private sectors within an institutional framework, aimed at achieving economic and industrial success akin to military achievements. The minister also stressed the importance of reducing import bills and supporting local industries as key to sustainable development.
Acting Minister of Economy, Industry, and Investment Sam Al-Bashiri highlighted Al-Hodeidah's critical role as a pivotal part of the national economy, describing it as the "lung" of the economy. He noted the governorate's success in localizing industries and implementing government plans, and outlined the importance of addressing private sector challenges to foster development and business expansion. Al-Bashiri also mentioned the introduction of a one-stop service center for investors in Al-Hodeidah.
The meeting also included Undersecretary of the Public Resources Development and Economic Units Oversight Sector at the Ministry of Finance Dr. Yahya Al-Saqqaf, Undersecretary of the Revenue Sector Mohammed Muthanna, and several other officials. The governor of Al-Hodeidah praised the weekly meetings' role in promoting development efforts and reiterated the commitment to support the private sector, crucial in sustaining the economy during challenging times.
Saleh Atifa, Director of the Office of Economy, Industry, and Investment in Al-Hodeidah, called for continued support for local industries, acknowledging the cooperation of local factories in this endeavor.
