37 Tons of Improved Seeds Distributed to Grain Cooperatives in Ibb

Sana'a: The agricultural sector in Ibb province launched on Wednesday the distribution of improved seeds to cooperative associations of grain producers across 16 districts to boost local production and food security. The Agriculture Sector in Ibb governorate, in coordination with the local agricultural executive unit, began distributing improved seeds to cooperative associations of grain producers.

According to Yemen News Agency, the initiative is implemented under the General Corporation for Grain Development programs and aims to encourage farmers to expand grain cultivation, reduce import dependence, and strengthen food security. Officials said a total of 37 tons of seeds-equivalent to 924 bags-are being distributed, including maize varieties, beans, millet, lentils, sesame, and soybeans.

Agricultural authorities described the initiative as an important step ahead of the rainy season, helping to increase productivity and support farmers through improved inputs and technical facilitation. Farmers were urged to make full use of the seasonal rains to expand cultivation and enhance local agricultural output.
