828 Graduates in Al Hodeidah Sit for 2026 Professional Competency Exam in Medical Fields

Al hodeidah: A total of 828 graduates in medical fields holding bachelor's and diploma degrees in Al Hodeidah Governorate today sat for the first unified professional competency exam of 2026, organized by the Medical Council in coordination with the University of Al Hudaydah.

According to Yemen News Agency, Dr. Mohammed Suhail, a member of the Medical Council, stated during his inspection of the exam at the University of Al Hudaydah that bachelor's candidates were distributed across the following specialties: Pharmacy (13), Medical Laboratories (39), Dentistry (25), Nursing (28), and Clinical Pharmacy (12).

He further elaborated that diploma candidates were distributed among the specialties as follows: Medical Assistant (202), Midwifery (138), Nursing (140), Pharmacy (81), Medical Laboratories (86), Dental Assistant (10), Emergency (20), Surgery (23), and Anesthesia (11).

Dr. Suhail emphasized that the purpose of the exam is to assess the competency of medical and health personnel and ensure their readiness to practice professionally according to approved standards, thereby contributing to improving the quality of health services provided to the community. He highlighted that granting a professional practice license is a key pillar in regulating the health sector, protecting the profession, and enhancing public trust in service providers.

Dr. Suhail also praised the efforts of the University of Al Hodeidah's administration and its staff supervising the exam, noting that their organizational arrangements created a suitable environment for the candidates. He stressed the Medical Council's commitment to continuously evaluating personnel based on professional standards, reflecting positively on healthcare performance.

For his part, Dr. Mohammed Al-Ahdal, President of the University of Al Hudaydah, commended the strong relationship between the university and the Medical Council, as well as the trust placed in the university to organize professional competency exams. He affirmed the university's readiness to continue cooperation in ways that advance health education and improve its outcomes.
