Sana'a: The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources, Dr. Radwan Al-Rubai, convened with Dr. Abdullah Al-Olafi, Chairman of the General Authority for Agricultural Research and Extension, and his deputy, Dr. Abed Al-Bail, to discuss the research agenda and pilot plans for the current year.
According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting focused on evaluating the Authority's research plan, which aims to enhance research on agricultural products included in the import bill program. Participants addressed the challenges faced in this area and explored strategies to overcome them, with the objective of achieving the program's goals.
Minister Al-Rubai underscored the significance of advancing research as a key priority for fostering a development renaissance. He stressed the necessity of organizing and managing research across various fields and preserving resources, all in alignment with the principles of the Quranic Project.
The minister called on institutions within the agricultural and fisheries sectors to intensify their efforts and collaborate with the General Authority for Agricultural Research and Extension, as well as the General Authority for Marine Science Research. This collaboration aims to leverage and build upon previous research to boost local production.
Furthermore, Minister Al-Rubai highlighted the critical role of agricultural research outcomes in securing food security for the nation. He reiterated the ministry's commitment to refining institutional and organizational frameworks and adjusting policies and methodologies to improve effectiveness.
