Sanaa:According to Yemen News Agency, airstrikes conducted by the US-Saudi-Emirati coalition have targeted various locations in Yemen over several years, leading to numerous casualties and extensive property damage. On September 28, 2015, a wedding ceremony in the Wahejah area of Dhubab District in Taiz Governorate was hit, resulting in 131 fatalities, mostly women and children, and numerous injuries. Additional strikes on citizens' homes in the Bab al-Mandab area caused further casualties and destruction.
In subsequent years, similar attacks have been reported. In 2016, airstrikes on markets and residential areas in Saada Governorate led to several deaths, including children, and destruction of property. The following year, airstrikes in Hajjah and Saada Governorates resulted in more civilian casualties and significant damage to infrastructure, including schools.
Reports from 2018 indicate that airstrikes and artillery shelling continued to impact civilians and infrastructure in several governorates, including Hajjah, Al-Jawf, and Saada, causing deaths and injuries. The attacks also led to the destruction of homes, markets, and farms, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in the region.
By 2019, the pattern of airstrikes and artillery shelling persisted, with populated areas in Saada and Hodeida Governorates being heavily targeted. These attacks resulted in multiple civilian casualties and severe damage to residential and commercial properties.
The situation remained dire in 2020, as airstrikes targeted districts in Marib and Saada Governorates, while reconnaissance aircraft and mercenaries continued to shell various areas. The ongoing conflict has inflicted significant hardship on the Yemeni population, with widespread destruction and loss of life.
In 2021 and 2022, the coalition's airstrikes and artillery shelling continued across several governorates, including Marib, Hajjah, and Saada. The relentless attacks have resulted in additional casualties and devastation, further complicating efforts to alleviate the humanitarian situation in Yemen.
