Al-Aqsa Flood Football Championship Concludes with Imam Hussein Team’s Victory in Amran District

Sanaa: The "Al-Aqsa Flood" Summer School Football Championship drew to a close in the Amran district of Amran province. Organized by the Youth and Sports Office in collaboration with the Education Sector and Amran district, the event was supervised by the Supreme Committee for Summer Courses.

According to Yemen News Agency, the Imam Hussein team from the 14th of October School clinched the championship title after a competitive tournament featuring 12 teams over ten days. They triumphed over the Martyr Leader team 7-6 in a penalty shootout following a scoreless match.

During the closing ceremony, Daifullah al-Shami, a member of the Ansarullah Political Bureau, emphasized the importance of integrating sports tournaments into summer school programs. He noted the significance of naming such events after historical occurrences like the "Al-Aqsa Flood," alluding to the Battle of October 7, 2023. Al-Shami remarked on the readiness of the Yemeni youth to support Palestinians against the "usurping Zionist enemy."

After the finale, various dignitaries, including Ansarullah Political Bureau member Sajjad Hamza al-Shami, governorate's mobilization official Zaid Rattas, education sector official Mazen al-Makhadi, and the deputy director of the Youth and Sports Office, awarded the victorious Imam Hussein team with the championship cup and gold medals. The Martyr Leader team received silver medals for their efforts.
